VLC Remote for Android brings the popular VLC Player controls on your Android device and you can watch movies without having to sit near a computer for basic controls.
Android VLC Remote app allows you to control media playback of VideoLAN Client from your Android-powered mobile device.
VLC Media Player is a quite well-known player that haven’t released any major upgrade since 4 years. They have released a pre-release test version of VLC 0.9.0 which packs up 2 years of development.
One of the first things that you will notice in this version is the revamped interface (can be seen in the screenshot above) and another feature that has been added is the Last.FM support. Your Last.FM account will update as you play music through VLC.
The trend of open-source applications being ported for other devices seems to be growing. The most recent is the port of VLC media player for iPhone and iPod Touch. VLC is an open source cross-platform media player that plays just about everything you can feed it. Develeper Zodttd, has dubbed it as VLC4iPhone and it will work on jail broken iPhones only. I think this is going to be one popular application at the Apple Store (launching this Monday).
Note: VLC4iPhone is currently in semi-private Beta testing. You can join in the Beta if you donate to the cause.
