Microsoft Delays Service Pack Downloads
Microsoft has discontinued downloading of Vista SP1 via Automatic Update and delayed the release of XP SP3 through Automatic Update to as well. Want the reason? Well, today they uncovered a compatibility issue between Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System (RMS) and both Windows XP SP3 and Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1). The same compatibility issue was found in XP SP3 before the general distribution, but it wasn’t in Vista SP1. Microsoft released Vista SP1 to manufacturing on February 4.
Due to the newly encountered incompatibility issues with the Service Packs, Microsoft is forced to halt the release. Their release was planned before the end of August, but this is not the case anymore and Microsoft fails to announce the exact date.

First let me tell you what BlogBackupOnline really is. It is a free online service that backs up your blog daily, and stores all the data on their server. It doesn’t matter whether you use Blogger, WordPress, TypePad, Friendster, LiveJournal, Serendipity, Windows Live Space, Movable Type, Terapad, or Vox, it recognizes the blogging platform itself and starts collecting data in no time. Every member gets 50MB of disk space for their backup and restoring a blog’s backup was never this easy. You can add as many blogs as you want and anyone’s blog you want. Yes, that’s right! You can backup anyone’s blog (using their feeds), and restore it wherever you want. Still confused? Duh! Continue reading…

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has recently announced about the new look for the old PlayStation. It will be bundled with their karaoke title, SingStar Pop. The color looks really sexy and it’s one of my favorite colors :D .
The consoles features the same old ultra-sleek body and everything is same as it was in the Charcoal Black and Satin Silver PlayStation 2s. Major additions in this edition are:
- SingStar and Pop (high quality USB microphones)
- CD Playback capabilities
- DTS (Digital Surround Sound)

Jack Tretton, president and CEO of SCE, said:
With our expansive library of titles for PlayStation, led by social gaming experiences such as SingStar, and Buzz!, we have an incredible offering for first-time gaming families.

Burj Dubai – The new world’s tallest building

in Design, General, Technology
You just be living on Mars or must be an alien if you don’t know what place is Dubai :) . Never mind if you really don’t know. I’ll give you a brief introduction about it. Dubai is a very small city in United Arab Emirates. You probably wouldn’t even have ever noticed it while looking at a map. And it’s the place where I have spent 13 years of my life :) .

Now coming back to the topic, Burj Dubai is being constructed in “New Downtown” of Dubai and on Saturday, 21 July 2007, the developers reported it’s height as 512.1 metres with 141 completed floors surpassing the Taipei 101 (509.2 m) as the tallest high-rise building in the world. Amazing isn’t it? :)
How to use .htaccess for Redirection
by Haris on July 21, 2007
in Internet, Technology, Tips and Tricks
Recently, when I had a domain change, I needed something in order to transfer all of my traffic from the old domain to the new one. So I used .htaccess for the redirection.
You can also use this, by typing the following in your .htaccess:
RewriteEngine OnRewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.*oldwebsite\.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.preferredwebsite.net/$1 [R=301,L]
Replace oldwebsite\.com with the current website and replace http://www.preferredwebsite.net with the new website URL where you want to redirect the traffic to.
If you want to know what did I used for my old domain, then see below:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^sizzledcore.uni.cc$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.sizzledcore.uni.cc$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.sizzledcore.com [R=301,L]
Best Replacements for Windows Media Player
by Haris on July 20, 2007
in Computers, Softwares, Technology
Now you all know that Windows Media Player is one the worst players available. So here I have some replacements for it. I would recommend all WMP users to switch to something better. And that also when all the other good applications are free to use.
Now, let’s start the list :)
VLC Player
Also known as Video Lan Player is a must-have for every computer-geek just like having Harry Potter’s seventh book for a Harry Potter fan. It plays every thing you can imagine. As far as I remember, I have never had any compatibility problems with this player. You can say “It plays almost anything you throw at him“. I would recommend you to download this and try it out. It supports file formats such as MPEG, MOV, AVI, ASF, WMx, OGG, WAV, 3GP (this is just the start) and more. And one more thing, it’s skinnable just like other good applications. Download the best skins from here. The default is just like giving you a heart-attack, so get the skins now!
