Greasemonkey is a Firefox extension that allows Firefox users to install scripts that make quick changes to web pages. Greasemonkey can be used to add new functionality to web pages and web sites like adding an HTML signature in Google, bypassing image verification in Orkut etc.

Opera has a in-built feature that can support Greasemonkey scripts (custom JavaScript). These user scripts work exactly how they work in Firefox. You can read the brief tutorial after the jump on how you can use it.

How To Add More Slots In Opera Speed Dial

by Haris on June 15, 2008
in General, Tips and Tricks

Opera 9.5 logoOpera is no doubt one of the fastest, and most powerful web browser available. Of course, Firefox is still my favourite browser, but we can’t put Opera behind. It uses only 20MB of memory as compared to Firefox’s 60MB memory consumption. One of the best features and first of its kind in Opera is the Speed Dial feature. It was introduced back in April 2007, in Opera 9.2. It lets you visit your favourite and most-visited sites quickly with a mouse-click.

In earlier versions of Opera, it wasn’t possible to edit the number of slots but with the latest release, it is now possible using a very simple hack, thanks to Opera Watch.

Opera 9.5 Released: Browser War Heating Up

First, I would like to apologize for no posts yesterday and the number of downtimes this blog faced. My article Amazing Future Projects Of Dubai got on Digg’s frontpage yesterday, and due to this my host could not handle the traffic flood. The Digg effect has cooled down now, so regular posts will continue back from today. And yes, no more downtimes or those stupid excessive CPU usage messages!

Just two days after the release of Opera 9.5 RC, they are out with the final release of Opera 9.5. After months of beta testing, the final version is much faster and cooler than the previous ones. It also has a new metallic default theme. The most recently added feature is Opera Link, that helps you synchronize your bookmarks between Opera Mini and Opera 9.5 desktop.

Many people wanted Mozilla to add this feature in Firefox 3, but wasn’t due to some reasons. There is no need to get disappointed, because now you can add the same feature in Firefox also.

Opera 9.5 Snapshot With New Default Skin

by Haris on June 6, 2008

Yesterday, a preview “snapshot” version of Opera 9.5 was released and along that, came another surprise for all the Opera fans. Opera 9.5 is almost ready for the official final release, and will be out anytime this month. A makeover was needed for Opera, because the current ‘Classic’ skin has been on for several years now. The new skin that has been added as the default skin is named as ‘Sharp‘ and is currently available in the latest snapshot release of Opera 9.5.

Opera New Default Theme - Sharp

The new skin features a dark metallic look for Opera, and since I love metallic colours, I’m loving this theme. I feel the tab buttons are a little bigger than they should be. May be that’s because I’m used to thin Firefox tabs. And the close button, at the upper right corner of every tab is also very small. I hope they make it bigger in the final release.
