Yesterday, I posted a tutorial on how to tether your iPhone on Ubuntu 9.10 using Bluetooth, and now I have another tutorial to tether iPhone using USB on Ubuntu Linux.
In this tutorial, we’ll be using an iPhone Ethernet driver written by Diego Giagio and several packages from Jonathan Beck’s PPA.

iPhone tethering on Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) is now possible! You can easily tether your iPhone 3G or 3GS running on iPhone 3.0 or 3.1.x firmware with your laptop/netbook running on Ubuntu 9.10.
If you’re running 3.0 then you can do this without jail breaking your phone by installing a modified carrier profile. However, if you’re on OS 3.1+ then you will need to jail break your phone to install the modified carrier profile.

Ultrasn0w 0.92 has just been released that fixes the carrier logo on unlocked iPhone 3.1.2 firmware.
Users who jailbroke their iPhone using PwnageTool 3.1.4 or later, must have noticed that the carrier name went missing after jailbreaking. This was a known bug and the Dev-Team has been quick enough to release a fix for that.
Doom 3 for iPhone: Coming Soon
We have seen games like Doom and Wolfenstein 3D come to the iPhone and iPod Touch, but never thought of having actual console games on them.
id Software’s John Carmack has revealed that Doom 3 and Fallout could make their way to the iPhone 3GS. He also added that it took them around six weeks to port Doom to the iPhone.

Business Card Reader for iPhone is a latest iPhone app from Shape Services that makes your iPhone 3GS capable of reading cards and storing the info in your phone as a new contact.
As far as I know, the first cellphones to have an inbuilt business card reader and scanner were the Nokia E61 and Nokia E71. Their business card reader apps were later ported for other Nokia phones.

iPhone OS 3.0.1 Released, SMS Flaw Fixed
Recently, an iPhone SMS vulnerability was revealed by Charlie Miller at this week’s Black Hat conference. It was known that Apple is working on a patch and just a few minutes ago they released for everyone to update.
According to Apple, the vulnerability was “Receiving a maliciously crafted SMS message may lead to an unexpected service interruption or arbitrary code execution”.
