iphone-3giPhone tethering on Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) is now possible! You can easily tether your iPhone 3G or 3GS running on iPhone 3.0 or 3.1.x firmware with your laptop/netbook running on Ubuntu 9.10.

If you’re running 3.0 then you can do this without jail breaking your phone by installing a modified carrier profile. However, if you’re on OS 3.1+ then you will need to jail break your phone to install the modified carrier profile.

Users who jailbroke their iPhone using PwnageTool 3.1.4 or later, must have noticed that the carrier name went missing after jailbreaking. This was a known bug and the Dev-Team has been quick enough to release a fix for that.

Doom 3 for iPhone: Coming Soon

id Software’s John Carmack has revealed that Doom 3 and Fallout could make their way to the iPhone 3GS. He also added that it took them around six weeks to port Doom to the iPhone.

iPhone OS 3.0.1 Released, SMS Flaw Fixed

Recently, an iPhone SMS vulnerability was revealed by Charlie Miller at this week’s Black Hat conference. It was known that Apple is working on a patch and just a few minutes ago they released for everyone to update.

According to Apple, the vulnerability was “Receiving a maliciously crafted SMS message may lead to an unexpected service interruption or arbitrary code execution”.
