How to Root HTC Hero and Install Amon Ra Recovery Image
I always wanted to root my HTC Hero and install custom MoDaCo ROM on it as I had heard a lot about that ROM because it’s very fast, highly optimized and offers much more than the stock ROM on HTC Hero.
I followed various tutorials and articles on the Internet about rooting HTC Hero which is on stock firmware 2.73.x.x and decided to write my own step-by-step tutorial.

Currently, HTC Hero is, no doubt, the most powerful and high-end Android device available in the market.

My experience with HTC Hero has been great so far. I’ve been playing with it for a month now, trying out new applications and features to make it more productive and useful.
Out of 87 apps I have on my phone, around 35 apps are worth reviewing which I’ll be doing them all in the next few days. The one I’m going to do today is a metal detector app for Android phones.

There is no option in HTC Hero itself to hard reset it, but you follow this tip to bring your phone to factory default state.
How To Connect Hero with HTC Sync in Windows XP
One thing that lets the HTC Hero down is the non-availability of a proper PC Suite to manage phone applications, file manager etc. The only tool that comes with it is HTC Sync.
HCT Sync allows you to sync your calendar items and contacts with Outlook Express (Windows Address Book) or Microsoft Outlook. But due to some issues, I was having problems connecting the device to my PC.
