Gmail seems to be on a roll with all the new features it has been introducing. Canned messages, Gmail for mobile, emoticons in emails and now a new feature that lets you send free SMS.
This new feature has been added to Gmail Labs that allows us to send and receive text messages and have conversations all from within Google Talk in Gmail.
Do you have more than one Google Talk accounts and want to use them all simultaneously without logging off from another account? However, by default Google Talk does not let you use multiple accounts at a time and you have to sign out one account in case you want to use another one.
But you can make your GTalk go multi without installing any patch or hack, by just adding a simple command in the GTalk shortcut.
Google today has finally released an official version of GTalk for iPhone and iPod Touch. Now you can stay connected with your friends on the go without having to use the flash-based Google Talk. This new web application is much better and offers all the regular features you need. And the best thing you will find about this is that it even works well with iPod Touch.

Wondering how I wrote in bold letters in Google Talk? This is what I am writing this tip for. In this post, I’ll tell you how you can use bold letters between a sentence while chatting in Google Talk. Most instant-messengers, nowadays, have the text formatting feature to change your text font, colour and to make it bold, underline or italicized.
But for some reason, this is a missing feature in Google Talk, and I don’t think they have any coming plans to add it in Google Talk. Once day, while chatting with a friend, I accidentally found this trick to make letters bold. While chatting I wrote *punch your face* and when I press Enter, this message came up in bold letters.
Almost every instant messenger (IM) have this notification feature that notifies us whenever a friend comes online. Windows Live Messenger (formerly known as MSN MEssenger) and Yahoo Messenger pops up a small window at the bottom right and show us who has come online.
You must be wondering why doesn’t Google Talk also have this. Well, it does have. But it’s not enabled by default. In this post, I’ll tell you from where you can enable it so that you don’t have to open he GTalk window to see who is online or not.
How To Enable Notifications In Google Talk
Just follow the steps below and you will enable it in no time.
- Open Google Talk
- Click on Settings (top right, beside Help)
- Click on Notifications from the left menu.
- Under Friend Online, check the box for Show notification.
- Click OK and… Done! (Sorry, if you were expecting more steps)
I hope this trick has been of some use to you.

I don’t think Greasemonkey needs any introduction. I have a habit to go through the GM scripts site after every few days and look for new and interesting scripts.
I’m not much a fan of Orkut, the social-networking daddy. But I do like using Facebook, since all my old mates and buddies are there. The script today I found is for Orkut, and with this, you can integrate Google Talk in your Orkut’s main page! Chat junkies are definitely going to live this! Now you don’t have to leave your browser anymore to chat with your friends.
GTalk users are increasing day by day. Maybe because of its simplicity. A large number of bloggers use GTalk to interact with their fans and blog friends. Well, I’m also no different. :P I also use GTalk to catch up with all my friends and fans. Few days ago, I Google’d for some GTalk themes and stumbled across a cool site that offered free GTalk themes.
I got the same themes sometime ago through an underground forum, but the author of the post didn’t post the source, so I wasn’t sure where he got them from. But now when I know the it, I have been able to get a few cool themes that you will surely love using on GTalk.
Enough time wasted, eh? Let’s get on with the themes part. :)
NOTE: If you don’t know how or where to install GTalk themes, please read this first!
What’s up readers? How was your weekend? :D I hope you had a great one. Last time, I wrote about GTalk (Google Talk) was when I found how to unblock blocked contacts in it. This time, I’m going to tell you how you can change or install new themes in GTalk.
Remember, themes are not skins. Gmail themes only change the layout of the conversation window. Where as skins change the entire design of the application.
