We all use FeedBurner for our blog feeds to display and gather statistics about our RSS feed subscribers. The most common is the little chicklet that you see displaying the number of RSS readers. FeedBurner is no doubt the best RSS statistics tool available, but did you know that fooling readers with high subscriber count is very easy with FeedBurner? Although it’s not ethical!
One method is to display someone else’s chicklet, but over at the thenextweb, Joop has come up with another trick that is being used by many blogs to fool their readers by displaying a high susbcriber count. The video below shows how easy it is to manipulate your number of RSS readers.
FeedBurner announced back in April, that all FeedBurner users will be migrated to Google Accounts. But the interesting part is, that Google will no longer use feedburner.com as their home or in the feed URLs. Their new home will be feedburner.google.com, a site that announces you can use FeedBurner to “analyze, publicize, optimize, and monetize your feeds”. At the moment, you can’t login or create new accounts at the new home, but this will start working once the migration process gets started.
If you thought Alexa is the only tool from where you can compare traffic stats of site, then think again! I’ve found a new tool which lets you compare your FeedBurner subscriber count with up to 4 blogs/sites in a row. Visit the FeedCompare site, and just enter the FeedBurner feed name, or enter the FeedBurner feed URL. Then click the red “Compare” button to view the comaprison.
This tool can be very useful for bloggers who want to compare their feed readers count with other blogs or sites.
FeedBurner is finally rolling out the most-awaited feature for Google AdSense: AdSense for RSS Feeds. The rumours were on for quite some time now, and yesterday they finally announced that they will be releasing it next week.
Previously, only a few beta-tester publishers were allowed to use AdSense for RSS Feeds. But from next week onwards, all publishes will be able to enjoy the benefits of this ad-publishing program. Initially, it will be experimented with a few AdSense publishers, and then soon will be expanded for everyone.
