New Google Favicon Spotted

It was last year in May, when Google came out with a new favicon image for their sites. No one expected it to release a new favicon again this year.

They have now replaced the ‘g’ favicon with a more colorful one. For some reason, I don’t like the new one. Google.com now has the new favicon, along with other Google sites slowly getting the update.

What do you say? Like the new favicon image?

Google Doodles for Holidays 2008

Google Doodles for Christmas

Christmas is just a few days away, and I have also finally decided to apply the new Sizzled Core Christmas logo, made by Altaf Sayani.

We all know Google changes their doodles to something unique every year on some special occasion or holiday. This year too we expect to see something cool from Google, like always!

Google is everywhere, it is taking control of your every aspect of life slowly, gradually but effectively. Now its time to experience the Google effect on your desktop with this amazing mosaic wallpaper featuring Google Logo.

It was last month when I found the Giant Google Logo Mosaic. Now it was really not appealing to fix only logo right on my desktop, so I simply added some reflexive effect to the original file to made it more appealing.

In order to promote Windows and its users, Microsoft team launched their latest marketing campaign “I’m a PC” on Sept. 18.

Unlike the previous campaign which Microsoft didn’t got right, I’m a PC has been received well by the technology world and is getting a very good response.

Brandon LeBlanc, a Windows Vista blogger, has created a wallpaper for Microsoft’s Life Without Walls campaign, which shows a cutout of Ã¢â‚¬ËœWindows logoÃ¢â‚¬â„¢ in a wall.

We all know that we are connected to each other thanks to telephone lines or Internet cables, but never cared to find out how and where do these cables lie. Recently, I got a forwarded mail from my friend which had a picture showing what cables lie on this Earth land that makes it possible to connect to the Internet. Bradicon: Online Image To Icon Converter

I had a few images that I wanted to convert into icons to use with my desktop shortcuts, so I Googled a few converters, but didn’t found any good ones, so I continued my search till I came across Bradicon. It is a free online image to icon converter, that will convert your images (supports all major formats) to an ICO file. This icon file can be downloaded and used with shortcuts.

To convert an image to icon, simply press the big “Browse” button, and select the image that you want to convert. Uploading progress will be shown, and once the conversion gets completed, you will see the link to download this file as an ICO.

A very handy online tool that can be used for quick conversions from image to icons.

Google Saree By Indian Designer, Satya Paul

Saree, is a traditional desi attire, usually found in India, Pakistan etc. Satya Paul, has designed a Saree which features a Google logo (atually it’s Ooogle, maybe to prevent any trademark issues with Google) and some search results. God knows, what search term he used for the print (I can only spot the word Art). He adopted this strategy to promote his product because by incorporating a big brand name, he can easily market his product for free.

Anyone planning to gift this to their girlfriends?

MySpace Is Getting Redesigned Layout

MySpace is one of the ugliest, and for some reason, the most popular social networks nowadays. The irony about this is that a bad and a cluttered site design should inhibit user experience, yet this does not affect it in any way. Myspace, a Los Angles based social network, now joined with Facebook will be redesigning its site next week. The first phase will launch on Wednesday June 18.

Five major areas of the site will come under this redesigning: homepage, navigation, profile editor, search and the MySpaceTV Flash player. I have been able to get some images (below) of the new design, courtesy of TechCrunch.

Password Protect Images With LockImage

Recently, I had some pictures on my computer which I didn’t want anyone else to see and hence, started Googling for some freeware that could do the job. Although, there are other methods that could have done the job, like locking folders without any software, hiding files in a JPEG or by making invisible folders. But I was looking something more specific for my images only. So, in the end what I found was LockImage.

LockImage is an open-source application that can be used to password-protect images and can be opened on another computer without the need of the application itself. It protects an image by converting it into a password-protected executable and you can view them in an embedded image viewer. The only downside of this application is that images once turned into password-protected executable, cannot be converted back to standard images.

How To Password Protect Images With LockImage

The compressed installation package contains of just one file, and no installation is required. Simply extract it anywhere in your PC, and run the EXE file LockImage.exe. From the file-menu, select Open and open the image you want to protect. Then again from the file-menu, select Save As and choose the location where you want the image-executable to be saved. Then you will be prompted to type the password for the image twice and click OK. You will now see a new executable which contains your image and is password-protected.

Another thing I didn’t liked about this application is that once the executable is created, emaiIing it could be a problem since many email services do not allow EXE files. But compression tools like SecureZIP can always come in handy.

15 Cool Windows 7 Screenshots Surfacing The Internet

During my search, I stumbled across one big article at CrunchGear which had about 15 screenshots of Windows 7, and believe me… They looked very yummy enough to try them out. I wish I can get a leaked copy of Windows 7 from some where :D I’m dying to try it out.

Introducing Windows 7 With Real Screenshots

If you thought Windows Vista was the end of Windows franchise, then you’re wrong. Currently in development, is Micorosft’s next version of Windows named as Windows 7. It is expected to be released in 2010, four years after the release of Vista. Windows 7 or Windows Seven, was initially codenamed as Blackcomb, but later in 2006 it was renamed as Windows Vienna and last year it was named as Windows 7. Who knows, we might hear a new name by Microsoft this year?

This time Microsoft is expecting to surprise its users and customers with performance tweaks and improvements rather than providing eye-candy visuals like they did in Windows Vista. Some of the latest features in news, regarding Windows 7 are, support for Virtual Hard Disks, new user-interface, a new calculator (totally lame!) etc.

Bill Gates spoke at the Windows Digital Lifestyle Consortium in Tokyo and revealed some interesting, new information about Windows 7.

WeÃ¢â‚¬â„¢re hard at work, I would say, on the next version, which we call Windows 7. IÃ¢â‚¬â„¢m very excited about the work being done there. The ability to be lower power, take less memory, be more efficient, and have lots more connections up to the mobile phone, so those scenarios connect up well to make it a great platform for the best gaming that can be done, to connect up to the thing being done out on the Internet, so that, for example, if you have two personal computers, that your files automatically are synchronized between them, and so you donÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t have a lot of work to move that data back and forth.

Nokia E66 and E71 Official Pictures

Nokia has finally released the official pictures of their upcoming toys, Nokia E66 and Nokia E71. These will we Symbian OS (S60) based and will have GPS and a 3.2 mega pixel camera with LED flash. My Sizzling Desktop Looks Like…

Three days ago, I got tagged by my friend, Brown Baron, to show my desktop. I know, I’ve been quite late in doing, but I was very busy. Didn’t got even a pinch of time to do this post.

But I finally got some time, and here’s my crowded desktop.

Most of the applications I use, are in my Quick Launce bar. So, there are more junky stuff than applications on my desktop. I usually change my wallpaper once a month, because I’m kinda lazy person. :p

My Desktop Free View Instruction:

A. Upon receiving this tag, immediately perform a screen capture of your desktop. It is best that no icons be deleted before the screen capture so as to add to the element of fun.

You can do a screen capture by: [1] Going to your desktop and pressing the Print Scrn key (located on the right side of the F12 key). [2] Open a graphics program (like Picture Manager, Paint, or Photoshop) and do a Paste (CTRL + V). [3] If you wish, you can Ã¢â‚¬Å“editÃ¢â‚¬Â the image, before saving it.

For MAC users: Press [ Apple] [ Ctrl ] [ Shift ] and [ 3 ]

B. Post the picture in your blog. You can also give a short explanation on the look of your desktop just below it if you want. You can explain why you preferred such look or why is it full of icons. Things like that.

C. Tag five of your friends and ask them to give you a Free View of their desktop as well.

D. Add your name to this list of Free Viewers with a link pointing directly to your Desktop Free View post to promote it to succeeding participants.

Haven’t got your iPhone yet? Still waiting.. No problem. I have found a very nice tag for those who are still waiting to get their hands on the iPhone. You can use this tag on other bulletin boards, use it as a signature in your emails or put it up on your blog to let other’s know that soon you will also be an owner of iPhone! :)

To save the tag (user bar), for IE users, right-click on the image and select Save Picture As. And as for the Firefox users, right-click on the image and select Save Image As.

Please do not link to this image directly. Save the image on your PC and upload it on your own server or where you want to upload it. Or if you don’t know where to upload, you can use any of the free image hosts mentioned here.
