We have heard rumours before of Sony Ericsson working on a PlayStation + Phone device and was also rumoured that it will run on the Android OS.

Engadget managed to dig this out and have posted a few details that the PlayStation Phone indeed exists and will be available in the market soon.

PlayStation Phone packs some impressive specifications and will run on Ginmgerbread (Android 3.0). The device which Engadget tried had 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655, 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM and a 4.1-inch screen. It also has a long multitouch touchpad in the center along with the usual PlaySation control buttons. This phone won’t have a Memory Stick slot, but it does have a MiroSD slot in it.

This is still a prototype so we doubt if it will be announced anytime this year. Sony Ericsson could release it by early next year.

Gaming phones have existed before, like the Nokia N-Gage, but I’m sure Sony Ericsson won’t want the PlayStation Phone to die out like that. It’s only a matter of time which will tell if Android devices are capable enough to run games on par with the iPhone.
