YouTube Mobile Redesigned for All Mobile Devices

From HD support to a new embedded player, new features and upgrades are made available every now and then. Most recently, YouTube has announced that now it will revamp its mobile website to allow support for the complete YouTube experience which the desktop users enjoy. This includes changes which will enable the YouTube experience to be enhanced on all modern smartphones, including the iPhone.

YouTube notes the changes it will be making to its mobile website:

– The user interface incorporates larger, more touch-friendly elements, making it easier to access videos on the go.
– It incorporates the features and functionality you
’ve come to expect from the .com site, like search query suggestions, the options to create playlists, the ability to designate “favorite, like or unlike videos directly from your device.
– As we make improvements to, you
’ll see them quickly follow on our mobile site, unlike native apps which are not updated as frequently.


The new YouTube mobile website promises to make the iPhone app for YouTube obsolete in many ways. The mobile website will now offer videos in H.264 video format which are suitable for smartphones like iPhone can be played directly in mobile Safari.
