How to Install Custom Keyboards in Android

android-logoAndroid, being an open-source OS, comes with all sorts of goodies that you can do with you OS and customize your experience for using it on your device.

In case you don’t like the stock Android keyboard that comes with the OS, you can install custom keyboards and layouts which are available in the market for free and see which one suits you the best.

How to Install Custom Keyboards in Android

Follow the steps below to install and enable custom keyboards in Android that you can use on your device.

1. Download a keyboard app from the Android Market and install it.

2. Then go to Settings > Language & keyboard

3. Now check mark the Android keyboard name you just downloaded and want to use.

4. Now go to Messaging or anywhere else where you can type.

5. Long press in the text box area.You will now see different keyboards to select.

6. Select the one you just downloaded and start typing to see the changes!

    you forgot that most of the time you need to restart the phone in order for you to be able to long press and select input type.

    That is not important to do. It works fine without restarting on the Nexus
    One.
