android Sprint has announced that they will be releasing Android 2.1 Eclair update for Samsung Moment and HTC Hero by the end of this month.

An HTC forum member mentioned that the expected release date for Android 2.1 for HTC Hero could be 26 March, who spoke to HTC executive to troubleshoot his HTC Hero and had a conversation about the release date for the new firmware to fix issues related to HTC Hero.

Android Central also posted some evidence which shows that the release date of the much awaited, Android 2.1 update might be by the end of this month. Although, it’s not official right now and if released, it will only be for the Sprint subscribers. Other HTC Hero owners have to wait for some time to receive the update directly from HTC.

At the moment this is all we know. The news about HTC Hero getting the Android 2.1 update is going on since November 2009, but there is still no definite date of when it will come! All we have to do is wait for some official announcement by Sprint about this new update.
