windows7-logoWindows 8 news and rumours have already started popping up over the Internet with several sources mentioning that Microsoft is already working on it.

Chris Green, a Microsoft employee, has posted release dates of Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 (Windows 8 Server).

So, without wasting any time, I’ll go directly to the release dates mentioned there along with their support period.

Windows 8 Release Date

RTM: Friday, July 1, 2011
Mainstream Support: Friday, July 1, 2011 – Thursday, July 1, 2016
Extended Support: Friday, July 1, 2016 – Thursday, July 1, 2021

Windows Server 2012 (Windows 8 Server) Release Date

RTM: Monday, July 2, 2012
Mainstream Support: Monday, July 2, 2012 – Friday, June 30, 2017
Extended Support: Monday, July 3, 2017 – Friday, July 1, 2022

This information may not be true. But it’s always fun to have something in hand from before the product is even announced or revealed officially.

According to Chris’s sidebar:

The content of this site are my own personal opinions and are not intended to represent my employer’s view. These postings are provided “AS IS” with no warranties, and confer no rights.

Nothing much for now. But this is enough for us to keep our eyes opened and look out for any early developer leaks of Windows 8 ;-)
