android-20-eclairsA lot has been going on at HTC for the HTC Hero. They promised us with an Android 2.0 update soon, but still we haven’t heard anything from them since then.

And then, recently came up the leaked screenshots of someone running Android 2.1 on HTC Hero with Sense UI.

A developer at the xda-developers forums has ported Android 2.0 Eclair to HTC Hero which is an AOSP release. AOSP means no proprietary apps like HTC’s or Google’s in the OS.

I built this rom from sources.

AOSP-Eclair-2.0 (Beta1)

This is just the first beta version by the developer and claims no responsibility of any damage you do to your phone. The OS is fine and almost everything works.

Some known issues in AOSP-Eclair-2.0 are buggy camera, calendar app not funtional and bluetooth audio is also not working.
