How to Install Themes in HTC Hero

htc-hero-whiteI’m back with another HTC Hero tip. The last ones I shared were how to use HTC Hero as USB modem and how you can get Android 1.6 on Hero.

To install themes in HCT Hero, you don’t need t root your phone. THe method I’m going to tell works without any rooting required.

How to Install Themes in HTC Hero

Follow the simple steps below to install new themes in your HCT HEro with Sense UI.

1. Download the theme and store it in your PC.

2. Now move the theme file in root of your SD card. It should be update.zip

3. Reboot your HTC Hero in Recovery Mode

4. Choose “apply sdcard:update.zip” and press the trackball (the second option).

5. Theme should be installed now.

    HTC Hero, Sprint CDMA phone. Tired this, it did not work. Flashed ZIP to phone and now phone power cycles at the HTC boot screen. Good thing I had a backup to restore from, others may not be so lucky.
