BOLT, Fastest Mobile Web Browser
We have seen many mobile browsers i.e Skyfire, Opera Mini, TeaShark etc. And yet, once again another mobile browser has popped up with many features and great speed.
BOLT is a free J2ME-based web browser for mobile phones, that offers an uncompromised browsing experience on even lower-end mobile phones.
It is a very lightweight browser which uses only 500kb of RAM, unlike Skyfire which is a complete memory hog. It offers users with a fast, efficient and feature-rich way to enjoy full PC-style web browsing and web apps right on their mobile phones.
BOLT is built on Bitstream’s ThunderHawk browsing technology, which means great usability, speed and performance. To speed things up and save battery, BOLT passes all its data through a proxy for rendering and compression before being passed to the handset.
- Very lightweight
- Fastest mobile browser
- Full website rendering
- Built-in RSS reader
- Split screen browsing
- AJAX and Flash video support
Currently, it is invite-only and in beta stage. But you can still sign up to receive your free download copy as soon as they release a new version. I have also included the J2ME version of BOLT (below) which you can try installing on your cell phones.
I’ve been trying to get this to work on my Nokia N96, but I get an error while installing. May be it doesn’t support my firmware yet. Although, I was successful to make it work on Nokia N85. You can also download it from below.
