quicktime-iconApple QuickTime is best known for its support of vast support for video formats, and also for introducing video streaming over the web.

It is to Apple, just what Windows Media Player is to Windows. Means, it is the default media player in Apple computers and OS.


Today, they released QuickTime 7.6 which includes a number of performance and compatibility issues. A number of security vulnerabilities have been fixed and updated.

According to QuickTime 7.6 support document, this release contains the following updates:

– Improves single-pass H.264 encoding quality
– Increases the playback reliability of Motion JPEG media

– Improves AAC encoding fidelity
– Audio tracks from MPEG video files now export consistently

Application Support:
– Improves compatibility with iChat and Photo Booth
