Gmail Email To Google Docs

Gmail team seems to be all fired up these days and is constantly adding new features after every few days. Ofcourse none of these features are final and are in beta, but they can still be used from Gmail Labs.

This time they have added a new experimental feature which converts an email into a Google Docs document.


This is a very convenient way of making documents of your conversations or important emails. You don’t have to copy/paste the email and then later waste your time in the messed up formatting. All you have to do is, open the email or conversation that you want to convert, and click the “Create a document” link on the right side of the page. A new window will open with your email in Google Docs that you can modify and share.

And just in case if you forgot, you will have to first enable “Create a document” feature from Settings > Gmail Labs.

Plus if you want to directly jump to a new document right from your Gmail, without converting any emails, you can use the following keyboard shortcut (make sure keyboard shortcuts are on):
