Calling all Twitter and Yahoo IM fans out there! Guess what? Now you don’t need a separate Twitter desktop client for status updates when you use Yahoo! Messenger.

A New Zealand-based development team at WackyB, has created a plugin for Yahoo Messenger that syncs your status messages between Yahoo Messenger and Twitter.

With this plugin, you can know what your friends are up to through Twitter, as well as on Yahoo Messenger without needing a separate desktop Twitter client or opening your browser to update. You can configure several options like update interval, sound alerts on new tweets, pop-up alerts etc.

This plugin is compatible with Yahoo Messenger 9.0 only. Do give this a try, and I’m sure all Twitahoo fans (Twitter-Yahoo) are going to love it!
