Next-Gen MacBooks Announced

Just couple of hours ago, Apple announced the new MacBooks at the Notebook Media event, refreshing its complete notebook line with new design and amazing features.

A number of rumours have turned out to be true like a LED backlit display, an NVIDIA chipset with an integrated GPU and a Mini-Display graphics connector.

These new aluminum MacBooks now features a powerful GPU (the nVidia GeForce 9400M and 9600M GT for the MacBook and MacBook Pro respectively) which are the latest offerings fron nVidia. Along with glass multi-touch trackpad with new multi-touch gestures, higher processor, improved battery life and bigger storage.

The new MacBook and MacBook Pro begins to ship today for the following price points:

  • $1299. 13.3″ Glossy Display, 2.0GHz, 2GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, 160GB HD.
  • $1599. 13.3″ Glossy Display, 2.4GHz, 2GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, 250GB HD.
  • $1999. 15.4″ Glossy Display, 2.4GHz, 2GB RAM, NVIDIA 9400M + 9600M, 250GB HD.
  • $2499. 15.4″ Glossy Display, 2.53GHz, 4GB RAM, NVIDIA 9400M + 9600M, 320GB HD.

  • And now for a list if things the new Mac’s don’t have:
    No HDMI port.
    No BluRay drive.
    Not quite enough USB ports.
    No 10-key numeric keypad (despite plenty of space for one).
    No fingerprint reader.
    No TV tuner.
    A glossy screen (aka “looks terrible in sunlight”… they even show the light glare in their marketing photos).
    And they forgot to put on a mouse button.
