Windows Live Messenger 9 Ad Remover

Windows Live Messenger 9 (2009) is the latest beta version which was released for public a few days ago.  It displays a new revamped user-interface along with many new features.

It displays advertisements at the bottom of the main window which shouldn’t be a problem to most, but can become really annoying at times, especially the flashy ads.

WLM9 does not have any in-built option to disable them, so you have to use third-party tools like A-Patch (reviewed here). I have found another free tool that you can use to remove advertisements.

Live Advert Remover (Live Messenger Advert Remover formerly known as MSN Advert Removal) blocks all advertisement banners from being displayed in Live Messenger. It works with all versions of Live and MSN Messengers. You need to run it only once to “patch” your system.

This tool will only stop different advertisements from being shown. A WLM banner will still be there. If you want to completely remove that banner, you can use A-Patch.

Note: Live Advert Remover cannot remove any advertisements if Messenger Plus! Live plugin is installed on your system.
