How to Uninstall Internet Explorer 8 in Windows XP

Uninstallation of IE8 in Windows XP is the old traditional way of going to Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel and selecting IE8 from there to remove it.

How to Uninstall Internet Explorer 8 in Windows Vista

In Windows Vista, Internet Explorer 8 is not installed as a program but an update for Windows. Since IE8 is not available there by default in Installed Programs, follow the steps below to uninstall it:

  • Open Control Panel and click Programs
  • Then click Programs and Features
  • From the left side menu, click View Installed Updates
  • Select Windows Internet Explorer 8 and Uninstall it.

IE8 will revert back to the default Internet Explorer 7 in Vista.
