Best Firefox 3 Extensions Announced by Mozilla
Mozilla Labs recently announced the best Firefox extension winners in a contest held every year called Extend Firefox 3. In this contest, developers create extensions to extend the functionality of current features of Firefox.
This year’s Extend Firefox was launched back in March, and brought in over 100 entries. But only seven were chosen as the winners within three categories: Best New Add-on; Best Updated Add-on; Best Music Add-on.
Best New Add-on
Pencil (Install)
This add-on allows the user to do GUI prototyping and make simple web pages, sketches and drawings using its in-built stencils for diagramming and prototyping.
Tagmarks (Install)
The Tagmarks extension brings together the fast one-click bookmarking in Firefox 3 and the power of using Tags to organize your bookmarks. With Tagmarks, you have a lot of different options of icons to click when adding a site to your bookmarks, instead of just the Bookmark Star.
HandyTag (Install)
HandyTag provides a complete set of most relevant keywords in the bookmark’s edition panel. These keywords are retrieved from many different sources.
Best Updated Add-on
Read It Later (Install)
Read It Later allows you to save pages of interest to read later. It eliminates cluttering of bookmarks with sites that are merely of a one-time interest.
TagSifter (install)
Firefox 3 lets you tag your bookmarks, but it doesn’t give you a great way to browse your bookmarks by their tags. TagSifter tries to. Select a group of tags in the sidebar or menu, and TagSifter shows you all the related tags and bookmarks.
Bookmark Previews (Install)
Bookmark Previews adds an album and thumbnail view for your bookmarks in bookmarks manager.
Best Music Add-on
Fire.fm (Install)
Fire.fm is your direct access to the extensive music library on Last.fm. Listen to music related to your favorite artist, and discover new artists and music in the process.
