Launchy: Keystroke Application Launcher for Windows & Linux

Launchy is a free utility that helps you to open applications with just a few keystrokes. It will make you forget your start menu, desktop icons etc.

It indexes all the applications from your start menu and can launch your documents, project files, folders, and bookmarks with just a few keystrokes. I recently gave it a try and found it to be quite a time saver!

All you have to do is type in a few letters, and applications matching those letters will appear in the list. For example if you would like to start Firefox, just type in “Firefox” or “Mozilla”. It will show you the list of applications related to those letters and you can start your applications from there. You don’t have to go through the long list of applications in your start menu.

It sits in the background and when needed, just press Alt + Space and it will popup for you to type your application name.

Launchy is available for free download and comes for Windows and Linux.
