A popular social news site and an early Digg competitor, Reddit, has gone open-source today. They announced a day before that they have an announcement to make tomorrow, and the invite page had an image of a penguin which meant that the announcement was something related to to Linux or open source. The next day they released their own code to the public and now you can also build a site like Reddit.
DriverMax: Backup & Restore Windows Drivers
Recently, I did a fresh install of my Windows XP with SP3, but before doing that I wanted a tool that could backup all my system and device drivers and then restore them back safely when I re-install Windows. I did not want to lose any of my up-to-date drivers. I don’t even remember if I still have the original driver CDs for my devices and I wasn’t at all interested in spending ours on the Internet searching for the latest drivers. This is where DriverMax comes to rescue!
Driver Max

DriverMax is a useful tool that allows you to backup, restore and download latest drivers for your computer (Vista only feature). You can backup all your drivers (or only the ones that are needed) in a folder or in a compressed file. After re-installing Windows, its Import Drivers wizard will help you restore your backup and the entire process takes only 5-10 minutes. Saves you hours of searching!

There is still an hour left before the Download Day finishes and Firefox 3 has already been downloaded over 7.4 million times (at the time of writing this post)! Today morning, the Internet Explorer team from Microsoft sent a fancy looking cake for the Mozilla Firefox team to Mozilla’s Mountain View headquarters to join the celebration of the Firefox 3 release. Wasn’t that sweet of IE?

Firefox 3.1 Alpha (Shiretoko) Scheduled For Mid-July
Mozilla has just got over with the release of Firefox 3 today, and I don’t think the development team is going to take a break any where soon. They like keeping themselves busy. The alpha version of Firefox 4 on their FTP is no surprise to us. Now they’ve got themselves busy with Firefox 3.1 and are planning to release it in mid-July. Firefox 3.1 will be based on Gecko 1.9.1 and will be designed to bring to the table some of the features and functionality that were cut from Firefox 3.0.
Mozilla Firefox 3.0 Released – Download Now

Today is the day when Firefox 3, the much-awaited browser, will be finally released. The official release time is at 10.00 am PDT. Firefox 3 has already been uploaded at the Mozilla FTP, and can be downloaded from there before the announcement on their site. But if you download from the FTP, your download won’t be counted for the world record, which Mozilla will try to make in the next 24 hours. You can download Firefox 3 in all OS versions (Windows, Mac OS X and Linux) from the FTP.
More than 1.4 million users have already pledged to download Firefox 3 today, and I’m on of them too! This post will be updated as soon as Firefox 3 hits the main site and the download count starts on the Download Day 2008 site. Only 2 hours left! So keep checking back, and stay tuned!
