Yeah,nice
Iâ€™m using firefox as well, but i have doubts in that Firefox Ultimate Optimizer also.
Now,I donâ€™t use task manager but Sysinternals â€œprocess explorerâ€ wich is more thorough
In first picture you can see firefox running with some page opened ( http://img156.imageshack.us/my.....inghr5.jpg )and memory consumption is ~45 MB
in second picture ( http://img167.imageshack.us/my.....timrf7.jpg )Firefox Ultimate Optimizer is running as well but there is same memory consumption and now Firefox Ultimate Optimizer is eating aditional 16 MB

just so you guys know, it’s not actually reducing the RAM usage of firefox, its just dumping them on a portion of your harddrive…

it cheats…

You may want to try this tool as well, called Minimem: http://minimem.kerkia.net. It does the same but more:
- Can optimize other apps too
- Smaller footprint though it does more
- User-defined frequency of memory reduction
- … and it’s not referenced as adware by Kaspersky!
I use it on my old computer and it works like a charm with Firefox and a few more apps.
Also, they explain on the site how it works: it removes unused memory pages from the RAM of your computer, at regular intervals.

The program probably just runs a process named “firefox.exe” that hides the real firefox process or runs it under a different name because the scrollbar in the after screenshot is smaller than the scrollbar in the before screenshot (which indicates there are more processes running after than before). There’s no good reason, but a lot of bad reasons, to do something like that *cough*trojan*cough*.

Firefox uses so much ram to cache previously visited pages in case you need to revisit them.
You can use browser.sessionhistory.max_entries to manually adjust this value without any tools ( type about:config in URL box ).
This tool most probably does nothing except setting max_entries to zero.

PS. After setting this value from 50 to 30, I was able to lower RAM usage from 300 o 70, which is quite conforming. Without anything sitting in systray!

Every such app, that modifies configuration files is flagged as malwares, or adwares by antivirus softwares. I’m using it and have found no problem in it. It didn’t made my PC slow, or I didn’t even notice any irregular behaviour. I even monitored by bandwidth to see if there was anything suspicious in this tool that transfers our Firefox passwords etc. It’s all safe my friend.

:grin: Been using this for a while, and it preforms as advertised. Simply install it, and watch as Firefox’s memory consumption immediately drops to 1-2k. Ran the program through extensive viral programs, and it appears clean. Firefox should hire the developer.
