What you see below is a massive list of projects waiting to be initiated in Dubai. All of the following amazing Dubai projects have been started or are going to be started soon.

These future projects are all planned in Dubai, the city of dreams! Check out the whole list below that I compiled for the amazing Dubai projects you will soon find there!

What is Dubai?

Dubai, also known as, the City of Dreams, has always attracted business oriented people, but now they are attracting people for residence too! They are on their way to create a mini-universe of their own. The future is near.. Hahaha :)

Dubai in 2050

I remember, when I was in Dubai, in 1999 (not sure), an artist designed a poster that had an envisioned image of Dubai in 2050. You can check it out below:

Dubai in 2050

And me and my friends used to laugh at the poster, that it’s impossible for Dubai to look like that. But now.. I think that’s going to be possible in just another 10-15 years!

Aaaah, finally. That was the last one :) So, what do u say guys? Shouldn’t that poster be titled to Dubai in 2015? :) I would like to know our views about this post and will look forward to your comments.

P.S. This post of mine was actually written long time ago and was timestamped for 15th March, but for some reason it didn’t got published. May be my installation of WordPress is corrupted. So some of the projects may have been completed by now. And do ignore few of the grammatical mistakes as parts of this post was written by a friend and I haven’t rechecked them.

Diggs and Stumbles are all welcome and appreciated!

See you now on 26th April! :)

Too bad it’s a facist nation that abuses human rights as a matter of religious law. Can you say ‘decadence’?

  • Saif

    @Jake Lockley

you must be kidding me :S your hate comments. you dont stand to see the worlds most beautiful and peaceful state with the highest level of cultural diversity without any racism to be a muslim nation.

or are you the part of media, which places the wrong impression of muslims all over the world, to misguide the people who do not know better :\

its your degeneracy that you fail to see, yet you depict it your posts. and you implied capital punishment as religious, like you do not carry that out in your country. or fail to see the fake freedom of speech concept you live under.

I’m with him man, dubai can suck my butt-cheeks. You can go to jail in dubai for 3 years for having a SPECK of marijuana stuck to your shoe (it’s happened, read up). I could care less what it looks like it 2050. The best thing the world can do for itself (the free world, anyway) is stay the fuck away from it.

  • Michael

There’s nothing racist about the opinion that Dubai is a symbol of all that’s wrong with the world.

With over 40% of the population on the brink of starvation, they continue to pour the economy’s tender into constructing these superfluous displays of wealth in order to distract the world from its horrid, problem-ridden status.

With one hand, Dubai constructs wonders, and with the other, denies its citizens the right to health and sustenance.

  • http://blog.nftecnostar.com Nicholas Fracis

hey! I wonder, When will our India Be like this. Hope even India Becomes like this soon

  • A. Phillips

Hey Michael, that 40% percent of Dubai’s population are migrant workers mostly from India and surrounding countries trying to work to feed their families. Sure they’re not treated fairly or humanely, but assuming you’re from the US nor are the millions of Mexicans, Hondurans etc. working in your country ilegally or otherwise, or even the tens of Millions of your own citizens lacking healthcare or a liveable wage, life ain’t fair, at least Dubai is doing something about it by planning ahead so their entire country isn’t lowered into abject poverty by the Emirate’s dwindling supplies of oil.

  • Saad

    really awsome DUBAI FTW…

and wht can i say abt the stupid comments LOLZ …

All you Westerns are just jealous bcoz the way you guyz are commenting any person can purely see that you are all jealous and you cant take anyother nation which can surpass you and you say abt human rights, wtf do u knw abt human rights. You guyz treat your dogs better than what you think of us (EASTERNS).

and as far as wasting our wealth, first look at yourself haven’t you guyz wasted billions of dollars on your so called war on terrorisom and what did the poeple of Iraq and Afghanistan did to you guyz u kill them like shit even if their leaders were not right why should the people be blamed… Huh!!!

Ya’ll stop fighting in here Dubai is a wonderfull place and are getting advance day by day so we should all stop criticizing Dubai and other great nations and start appreciating them and finally dont go and start criticizing other nations that they are wasting money rather than spending money on other things because we are also one of those nations.

  • IndifferentAmerican

It truly is a beautiful city. But i can’t help but think the money comes from the United States and several other countries being dependent on Oil from the UAE, which don’t get me wrong, is the fault of our government and our generally wasteful society. If that is the case, and i don’t know, im guessing, i just want to know what the UAE plans to do when that surplus is gone? Are the citizens being treated as fairly as those who can afford these structures? What is Dubai and the UAE doing to help the rest of the world? No judgement, just wondering.

  • Richard

In my honest opinion, when Dubai’s oil money dries up, they are going to be feeling the pain on a massive scale.

The money should be invested in useful projects, not this wasteful flight of fancy.

  • A. Phillips

Oh Richard, please do share with us your idea of “useful projects”. Perhaps some way of attracting millions of tourists with luxury hotels, fancy shopping, and nice beaches as well as a super futuristic city overall? Hey maybe by creating a whole bunch of research, media, business, and educational centres to pull in those brain dividends? Hey wait! That’s exactly what they’re doing! Who’d've thunk it eh?

  • aAl harmoudi

i am from UAE and i think dubai is the greatest city in this country not only in this country but also in the middleast i feel vrey proud when i hear good things about dubai i think it represint me i hope will be the best city in the world

man i want to go to dubai as soon as these projects are done

  • http://na -Just stumbled here

Well. As a westerner, and an architect, who grew up traveling the world, and coming from a privaledged education and background (I was born into it, and very, very lucky for that), and living now in europe and still not having been to Dubai, but seeing more and more of it and the projects there, and my wife is from there, I’d have to say, BEFORE we judge or even deem to understand another group or people living in a HUGE city in a HUGE part of the world, we ought to go VISIT at LEAST.

Dubai is incredible -what a massive and grand scale of human vision, in material form. Most of these buildings, while fancy, are no more difficult or expensive than the usual skyscrapers the world around. I.E. they’re going to get built, one way or another.

The people in that part of the world, are doing the same things everyone else does in the rest of the world, from my understandings and hearing direct from the people who live there.
It’s not about politics- that’s for a few select people in government positions- it is about the PEOPLE who LIVE in these worlds. And it’s about

    PERSPECTIVE.

Thank you for sharing a part of that with us on here!!!!

Too bad it’s so HOT there in Dubai though…..

    Peace

  • pisst american

fuck this shit, i guess if we had had who has a bigger dick contest we could tell Dubai is insecure at best based on how much they need to do to prove themselves, though the US isnt much better. these countries need to come up with better plans for the future rather than build the biggest and the “best”. I know I may be asking for a bit much but what is their bigger than big nature gonna get them in the end. not freakin much, though in this day and age it could be different. so its up to us the people to change. this may seem hard but we can do it, so tear down the walls and start raising some hell. start with wal mart as it may be a a wise investment

rape your natural resources and use the revenue to build a fantasy world for rich foreign jet-setters while your citizens and a massive imported immigrant underclass starve. sounds like a nice place – we should all strive to be like them. by the way, its all speculative investment – most of these massive developments are empty – i wonder what will happen to dubai when the bubble bursts

  • http://salepale.com Kay Altos

The Palm Islands are the most exciting project on earth.

  • Chris H

OK…you list a lot of projects, but none – NONE – even mention the architects. It’s not hard to find out. I can see at least three Zaha Hadid projects there alone.

Also, on a personal note….how can people find these projects attractive? Dubai Old Town?! For a city that two decades ago was a tiny collection of vernacular buildings in a desert? Somehow the ‘Old’ town is full of neo-classical Las Vegas style crap. That is all this is – Las Vegas meets unlimited budget. Clearly money can’t buy you taste.

  • Rickardo

Great but just one BIG thing is wrong – in 2050 if science is right, the land elevation levels in Dubi will be under the estimates set for sea level rise.
Now i don’t know about you, but it would seem that all this vision as conveniently forgotten about environmental impacts- especially one that would effect the city itself – sea level rise.

what are they going to do? – some of those islands only require a 1m rise in sea level to become very dangerous.

  • trav

these are nice buildings.. too bad they’re all going to get destroyed when WWIII starts up. hopefully UAE is on the good side!

That is to pretty to last in the world we live in. Global warming will probably ruin the man made islands when the water rises. The building will probably be targets of terrorism in that area. The economy will fall when they have no more oil to sell. But let them get ahead of themselves. We need to finally see somebody else make some mistakes we can learn from. Seems like we have been leading the world into the futire for a while now. And NOW antoher country wants to look cool. Umm can you say standing on the shoulders of giants.

I wish we could have workers that work for pennies an hour, and no environmental regulations to hold us back! Fuck Dubai! It’s only because the US has a military that polices the world that places like this can exist.

  • http://gimps.de Cute Ahmara

    Very interesting development.
It appears to me that Dubai is going to look very cluttered in some decades.

The shadows of the buildings will spoil the sunny atmosphere of the city which will be abandoned by the people who like sunny spots.

  • Andrew

    ha
any “Easterners” that think they are so superior should remember that a lot of US dollars are flowing into that region to our evil companies, like Halliburtion, and so forth,
so if you think you’ve got it good, your really just gonna end up in Dick Cheney’s Disney Land.

and stop calling us all dumb, we have so little control of our country right now, it be really nice to know that the rest of the liberal world wasn’t sitting back and letting some capitalist neo-cons screw everything up.

The individuals paying attention really care. Its just that our votes aren’t counted, they haven’t for the last two elections and were to divided to do anything about it.

Good luck Dubai, this all looks to good to be true.
Be careful who you outsource this construction to.
Be responsible with your wealth cause god knows America wasn’t.

after reading many of the blogs on this site all i can say is peace man!!!thats what we need more thananything especially warmth and understanding i believe there is on god call him allah. jesus, krishna.shiv or any other name!!we as humans are responsible for the sick happenings in our world call it revenge or for protection!

sometimes when i think deeply it amazes me that through our insignificant lifetime of approx 75 years, that is if we dont get the proverbial push, we cnat learn to love one another and respect each others differences whether we think it wrong or right!!

or is it just a question of territorialism ie this is mine that is mine or if it is theirs I WANT IT!!!

isnt it time we grew up i mean everyone???

i hope i havent bored the pants off you but here is my opinion of dubai; i was in dubai in january and fell in love with it dubai felt as though it was going to be a city of dreams a city of hopes a city wher muslims and others alike will be able to work and enjoy without the enormity of crime that shrouds the world.

i know that is not perfect and that the ruling sheikh has a lot of things to change to make equality a neccessary factor of everyday life but i am sure he will he seems to love his people and is not averse to change in fact i think he has already achieved amazing results for such a small kingdom and i wish dubai all the best for the future.

i am a hindu man who was born and brought up in england and understand that nothing is ever going to be perfect but if dubai can learn from the mistakes of others and improve on a n already good infrastructure then it will be a good place to live in and i would live there in an instant all my regards to fellow bloggers binay

Chris H, i totaly agree, they should build caves instead, dont you think??

This city is one of the greatest things ever achieved by men, and you shouldn’t be jealous but embrace it and be proud of it.

I think that counties should take an example and invest in architecture like this

    Hello
I was born in Dubai, the reason I left it was because I was not granted a UAE citizenship thus didn’t see any future for my kids if they were born in dubai like me. I had to get a visa to stay in the country eventhough I was born their– It is depresing to know that you have lived all your life their and still no right… it is really sad

On the other had It is really a lovely place to live , no crime and a great place to live in if you can afford it.

I love what Sh. Muhammed and his father Sh. Rashid have done. i.e. promote business etc. They have done a great job , to make Dubai so known in the world.

I do wish if Dubai acknowledges the people who have lived in country and the contributions taht they have made towards the economy.

It’s not about peace. It never is. It is about freedom.

    Nice buildings.

What will they build when the petro-dollars run out?

Wow. Just wow. I knew the Dubai had some awesome stuff in the works, but many of these buildings are just incredible. I think the strategy of the country is genius – have something to attract people when the oil’s gone – and it’s apparently already working.

I hope that I will get to see the fruit of all this planning someday (preferably sooner than later), and I wish that my own country would take a few notes and learn something from Dubai’s success.

    Absolutely stunning.

    :)

Is there going to be a neverland ranch there?
For michael & his boy toys ?
dubai is the king of child molestors.
Are there enough men in dubai to work these places?
Or they will actually have women work?
dubai is the king of the misogynistic world.

  • 20-100

Bravo aux UAE, Dubai is stunning, love the idea that everyone can live united in Dubai. Of course the downsides like everywhere else(the hard workers get payed 150$/month, the visa issues, need a lot of $$$, ect…). There is no perfect place on this planet but look’s to me like Dubai is the future and I would love to be part of it…..

Nice buildings, poor culture. I would not go anywhere were women are treated as property. And the way the foreign workers are treated.. Check out some human rights sites and see the truth. That includes Dubai, Saudi Arabia, most of the Islamic world.

Interesting posts those of you claiming this will be over when their “petrol dollars” run out… First of all, trade in Dubai faaar exceeds revenues from petrol sold by Dubai. Their leaders have vision and realize one day the UAE will run dry and are appropriately preparing for that day. The UAE is a major trade hub for the whole region and is a middle point between the West and Asia.

Dubai was NOT built on US money and a few troops. Stop being bigots. Do I need to remind you whose backs the United States was built on? The government of the UAE is taking major steps to change the way migrant workers are treated.

I am from America, and I would first like to apologize for all of the ignorant comments posted by my fellow Americans who are lacking in education. Education as to what their (our) government is really doing and education on how we are viewed by BILLIONS of other people.

Our world is so divided and it scares me to death to know I am an American.

Go Dubai, thrive on and continue to be a light to all of the cities (and I mean all of them).

I would love for our country to become neutral and loved by all, but the only realistic option is getting out of here.

Please know, all non-americans, that my generation (I am nineteen) is trying to change and our nation is NOT behind our government as much as they would like you to think.

    Peace.Love.and Prosperity

  • Greenrascal

To all Americans in here, as an American please let me be one of many to tell you too shut the Hell UP!! We lost our moral upper hand years ago and lets face it, were a bully nation with BS infrastructure who are so damn wasteful that half of our population is obese and cant run a hundred yards cause they drive everywhere.

It is an absolute joke for us to criticize anyone anymore and it comes off making us look even more deluded. Lets clean up our mess at home (thank you Republicans…) and then maybe in 20 years we can tell someone off for their cultural and political practices.

As for Dubai, ROCK ON!!! man those buildings Fff-ing RULE! and it is a very wise decision on your parts, because lets face the oil is running out and your taking the necessary steps to ensure your future, hats off and Ill be in like Flynn in 2050, Bravo

  • Dubai-girl

worg: “That’s because you treat your women like dogs”.
    ———

That is not true at all!!
I am a local Emarati girl (21year). My city is Dubai. I can go to university, drive my own car, choose my future husband, and so forth..

and this situation for most females in the UAE.

Islam has never prevented us from our rights. Islam gave us the rights that we woudn’t dream about if we were not Muslims.

yes we as Muslim females cover our hairs and wear prudish clothes because it is part of our Islamic rules that we are proud of.

Yet, we enjoy our life, go shopping, travel, and have good education. We LOVE our country and believe it is the best.

I personally never like to be like most western women who like to show they are free by wearing nothing!! and live with men without marriage. Women in the west are taught to think about making money because they want to be treated equally as men. whereas, we as Muslims have a rule that men are the ones who are responsible to make the money.
I can work and have a salary, but yet the man is responsible to pay for everything.
    so, I believe I am lucky ^_^
    ———
The best thing about Dubai is not the tall buildings and amazing archticture, but it is the fact that people from all over the world live here in harmony.
We respect all nationalities and don’t have problems with people who have different religions and cultures.
    ——-
Those who say that the UAE dosn’t help poor people who starve from poverty are wrong. The UAE spends billions of Dirhams to help Muslim and non-Muslim people around the world.
It is one of the priority of our leaders to help needy people around the world and they encourage the citizins to help by designing campaigns to collect money for poor people. And don’t forget that we are Muslims, and it is part of our religion to help needy people. So please don’t just say things that you are not sure about.

    Bist Regards from Dubai
    ^_^

  • UAE-Boy

Thanks sis Dubai-girl for correcting the wrong thought .

And I see the fact to make UAE or Dubai specifically perfect is construction and development but the biggest fact is safety UAE is the most country safe in the world .And that what Europe and American ppl said who live in UAE. One day I forget my car open
and work for 24 Hour and it still like what I leave it.Our home doors are open because we feel safe.

People are taking about the waters rising and dubai disappearing in 70 odd years, but isnt their a more pressing matter at hand for dubai, like their oil supply running out! a.k.a. their funding for the majority of their grand structures. I think this will be Dubais rise and fall, they don’t seem to be very responsible with their fortune, which may i add i funded by the rest of the world through oil and tourism. They are relying on tourism for their economy in a desert with unbearable heats in the daytime which are bound to increase with global warming, and causing massive geographical damage to their biggest asset, the coastline. Their “reconstruction” of the coastline is killing off wildlife by stagnant smelly waters. More hell than utopia.

Dubai is hell. So now all you fake american immigrants that came from your poverty nothing countries to live off America’s Paradise (that you had nothing to do with) after you have set systems up to steal from America and build up foriegn poverty countries with our money – now you are talking about running your ragged stinky poverty dumb evil butts over to Dubai! After immigrants Reagan, Bush, Clintons and other government beast have told lies to turn America into a poverty third-world nation and to give foreign beasts our money because they can’t make their own – now America is no longer your paradise after you have jacked it up – you are running to that Dubai (You all are going to pay for your words and your mess that you have done – America should have never allowed all you poverty dumb European, latin, middle eastern, asian immigrants to our country – but payback is coming you beasts)! You are not getting away with anything!

  • Denise

America didn’t steal any oil or anything back in the days from no one – we didn’t have to. We invented the greatest things and had the true and best beliefs here that’s why we were rich, powerful and no one could take it away – we were blessed to have. We believed in God the correct way that’s why we were exalted – you other non-americans believed in hellish conditions and fake gods thats why you were cursed, dumb, and all were subject to America and had to run to our country for the better life. The problem is White america let your horrible butts here and gave you things that they should not have. The middle east needed money so they gave and sold oil to America – America owns a lot of they oil over there we didn’t steal anything. We need to take back our money, country and other stuff from you and get your middle eastern and other poverty stinky immigrants OUT of our country! But God is going to destroy your country and you people soon! JUST WAIT!!! PAYBACK. You have very little time to enjoy our money and to run to that crap Dubai.

  • johnny

Denise, Your christian god gave up on you ages ago hence you have so much corruption in your country. AMERICA IS SECULAR!America was built by brilliant minds but also exploitation. It has achieved alot but remember it has built upon previous knowledge of older civilisations to create more positive synergy and in turn, give back to the world. Japan is another example of how it borrowed ideas such as the automobile and built upon them and exceeded the original hosts ie driven general motors, ford etc out of business with toyota, honda etc.

  • johnny

…The world will be a different place in another 50, 100, 150 etc years time, why are the past 200 years any more important? There are rising nations and thats how it should be. Everyone has to contribute and bring to benefit to mankind. Wealth does not mean gods happy with you, why, was pharoah a great man? Was Eygpt a god fearing moral nation? They ruled for 3000 years! Is god unhappy with africa? are they bad people because they are poor? On the contrary, wealth brings evil. Wealth is created by competition and in turn exploitation. For every dollar printed, someone out there is losing out mate! You cnt create wealth if everyones bloody benefiting.

@ Jake Lockley and the rest of you guys…

I agree with Jake Lockley’s comments regarding Dubai’s Expatriate Human Right malpractice. This country REALLY does not respect HUMAN RIGHTS to ordinary people like what had happended to my friend. I angrily say that because he was a victim of unjustice and unscrupulous deeds. He had complained his Indian and Arab employers for unpaid salary. The Labour Department instructed him to put it in the Court for proper judicial. He won in the Lower Court for UNPAID SALARY and again he won in the Court of Appeal filed by his employer for refund of payment of UNPAID SALARY. His case gone through the Higher court because his employer filed a case against him for ABSCONDING. Happily, he still got a positive decision made by the Higher Court. The Court says ” HE IS ENTITLED TO HAVE ONE WAY TICKET OR UNLESS HE FINDS ANOTHER JOB”. But, while he presented himself to the Ministry of Labor for cancellation with the presence of his employer, MY FRIEND got a ONE YEAR BAN even he showed them the three original copies of Court’s Order. The irony of it all, He was sentenced to a LIFETIME BAN in Dubai because his employer is a high top ranking Immigration Officer. His employer still insisted that he is ABSCONDING even though he was not able to proove it in the Court. He got his passport in the Releasing Section of Dubai immigration for cancellation but he refused to go for EYE SCAN. He was asked by the Officer in Charge then to go back to Labour Department for LIFTING THE BAN. My friend approached the Undersecretary of Labour in Dubai but his pleading was denied and in vain. He went to the Immigration Court in Dubai Courts to release his money kept by the treasury but again denied. I would say that DUBAI does not have DUE PROCESS OF LAW. My friend is available for comment at Mobile No. 050-9496490.

heyy everyone i think Dubai is so amazing i couldnt believe my eyes when i got there omg i cant explain how good it is you should really go to Dubai :)

  • *Maria*

Wow, That’s a lot of comments! All I can say is that I’ve been in Dubai for 18 years, that’s all my life, & there’s nothing like this place anywhere! I love Dubai with all my heart, & even though it can feel a little crowded and it has it’s disadvantages, which country doesn’t?
Point is: This country is as amazing as anywhere else in the world. Yeah, It wants to be known but that’s because there are still some idiots all over the world, who think that everyone in Dubai, travels on camels & lives in tents!
So forget whose superior, forget the wars, forget global warming, what’s bound to happen, will happen. As simple as that!
& people stop dissing other countries, it’s seriously not nice.

I am as American as a government as they come, family here just after Mayflower came…. as farmers coming to just live. Family attacked by Indians and English AND French. They were slaughtered and very incapable of fighting. Please everyone, do not be hypocrites anymore. Enough! Look at Dallas, look at Las Vegas, look at Disneyland, look at the scars of slavery here, then turn your eyes to your children or families children …. then turn your money and energies to unification and utilization of all of this amazing world’s resources and SHARE your things, your toys, boys. Hydrogen can power this world and maybe save it. Men are smart ingenious creatures. I love my father, my brothers…they come with the greatest ideas. Please no more fighting boys/men

  • Stacey

Also, I have been to Dubai, many times. I have been all over the world. I know people all over the world and… what a wonderful world! Just chock full of good people!!! Yes, in each place you will find autrocities, but I KNOW, decency reigns HIGH and will. Start now guys….reach if you have an arm…reach it to share. If your arm is one that is short at this moment, grab the hand reaching out to you for support. Try, try again. There is not much time. Counting on you all where ever you live, whatever your religion, whatever you have experienced, to TRY!

  • http://www.independent.co.uk Alex

This also seems to come with the territory, I’d never visit a country like this, let alone support them through spending there

    http://www.independent.co.uk/o.....64368.html

  • Stacey

Why Alex? You spend it there where you live…Did you forget your own country’s history of development and just about EVERY SINGLE country’s development? Oh, I guess you have….these people will continue to pull together just as yours did…and they will not mind or truly be missing your money, I am pretty sure they already have some anyway. In fact, best you could do to help IS spend your money there if you really care about the region at all…geesh!

  • fraser austin

Having lived in Dubai as a kid in the early ninties i was priveliged enough to experience dubai in its infancy. The main road had a few low rise office buildings on it – it was charming and peaceful. The old town is beautiful and you must take a dhow across the river at night.

Having a soft spot for Dubai it pains me to comment on the massive ethical shortcomings of the entire region. The sheikhs are WAY too powerful and rule like a dictatorship despite holding up the front of democracy (sounds like Bush!). The people that are building this city are third class citizens, slaving for little wages in inhuman heat (expats: dont go out at all in the heat of the day; labourers: work all day in the heat in dangerous situations for no money and your not allowed any of this glamour you are building). Labourers are forced to work and pay off debts, they cannot leave as the construction companies confiscate passports as soon as work is started – they are imprisoned in Dubai! – and the Dubai no one wants you to see ; take a trip out to a labour camp one time, youll never look at the city the same way again. Thousands of labourers are killed through heat and exhaustion and inadequate accomodation, these deaths are called accidents and thus the figures never provoke the outrage they should. Next time your at the top of the Burj think of the people that died for this place – not an honourable death by any means in that they are not only not-acknowledged for their work; they are in fact hidden.

Remember Dubai is built on credit – not actual cash. If the world gets its arse in gear and builds alternate fuel technology Dubai is going to be the most bankrupt country in the world!

The environmental suicide the place is going through is beyond belief – its a desert for christs sake! Water should not be as readily available as it is, its very unnatural. Dubai has NO natural water sources (rainfall, reservoirs, underground water), it takes massive amounts of sea water and desalinates it – causing ridiculous amounts of CO2 to be released, never mind ecological factors of processing all this water after the population has used it – the sewage system of Dubai is in meltdown due to the unprecedented growth in population, check out the sewage lapping up against Jumeirah beach – my old surfing haunt :(

Yes the west is as bad if not worse than Dubai for being arrogant, but our mistakes should be learned from. And all the emiratis telling us westerners to shut it as if Dubai collapses it will become another terrorist stronghold – be careful, you are becoming EXTREMELY western in your hands-off attitudes to the injustices which you yourselves are promoting. Be proud of your countries achievments but keep it in check and be active among causes that better everyones experiences of the place – not just the tourists and expats.

I used to love Dubai but now its just a vulgar playground for the rich – all the charm has gone…
