Top 5 Free Image Hosts

in Internet

I collected a little data about some good free image hosts yesteraday, and finally I have come up with the top 5 of them. Try them below and tell me if I’m wrong about them.

1. ImageShack

Best free image host one can find. Formats like JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIF, TIFF and SWF are all supported. You can even resize while uploading and the max. image size you can upload is 1.5MB. There are few tools you can use for uploading like image tracker, image uploader, browser toolbar and a lot more.

2. Photobucket

Upload from URL, PC, mobile, e-mail. Create remixes, slideshows, albums, sub-albums, sub-albums of sub-albums… Okay, I guess that’s enough. You can upload as many images you want. Free users get 1GB of space and 25GB of monthly bandwidth. Photobucket even allows you to host videos. This is an ideal host for bloggers with less bandwidth, and for storing personal pictures.

3. AllYoCanUpload

No limits in this one! Upload as much as you want. Supported image formats are GIF and JPEG. You can only upload from your PC, and resizing option available for every image being uploaded. And best of all, no registration required.

4. TinyPic

No registration required, you can only upload from your PC. Unlimited hosting period, storage and no bandwidth or file-size, image formats restrictions. And now even video uploading option is there.

5. imgplace

Image formats that are supported are JPG, .JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIF and TIFF. No bandwith, storage or hosting period limits. Max. file size that you can upload is 1.5MB and it can be only uploaded from a PC.

First Update Released for Safari

by on June 28, 2007
in Internet, Softwares

As said, I have started posting back regularly once again. :) Moving on to the topic…

It has been 2 weeks since Apple released its popular web-browser on the Wndows platform, but no updates were released and a number of bugs and serious exploit holes were found. According to a source, two high-level holes were found in the browser on the same day when it got released (the Windows version).

But now, Apple has finally released an update. So, all those who have shifted to Safari as their primary browser, I would suggest you to download this update at once.

This all for today. Will come up with something interesting tomorrow again.

Enjoy!

Finally… !

Finally.. It’s over. All the problems have been finally fixed. Actually, the recent downtime that occurred was due to the FLOOD! My host’s datacenters were given a flood warning. And as soon as they got that, they shut down everything and ran away :( . Leaving all their users down. Hehe, and I was one of them :P . But now, I have safely moved to a new host. No more problems. While shifting my blog and the backup, I lost my last post The Need For Speed, remember?

So this was the little sad story I wanted everyone to know. :( I’m sure that you guys must have thought that this blog is over. But NO! It isn’t :)

Regular posts will continue now and no more problems in between.

Happy reading… :)

WP Theme K2: Common Errors and Fixes

by on June 20, 2007
in Blogging, Internet, WordPress

I was recently setting up a blog for my friend using wordpress as the platform, when I found some common installation errors that occur while installing the famous theme K2. I have even found the fixes to these problems, thanks to the K2 Support forums.

Errors with their fixes

1. If you get this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: get_option() in […]/wp-content/themes/k2/theloop.php on line 28

To fix this, disable all the plugins that load their own version of prototype.js.

2. If you get this:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: wp_bootstrap() in /home/mybattle/public_html/wp02/wp-content/themes/k2/app/

includes/sbm-stub.php on line 24

You will have to re-install the theme from scratch, because the file structure have change. This error occurs while installing K2 0.9.6 on top of a previous installation.

3. For this:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: is_active_module() in /home/…wp-content/themes/k2/theloop.php on line 76

I don’t know the actual reason for this error, but this error is fixed in the latest version 0.9.6. So, if you are getting this, make sure you are using K2 0.9.6, not 0.9.5.

These were the only errors I found with the fixes. If you know any other common error that you have come across, then feel free to share it here. Your additions will be highly appreciated. If you still have some question regarding a problem, the K2 Support Forums are always open.

I hope this article has been helpful to you. This was the lat post for today… See you guys tomorrow :)
