Well, Orkut has been growing massively since the last 3 years but the weird thing is it is still in the BETA stage. No one knows when it is going to jump out of the BETA but it is going to be hell lot of a social network, not to mention it is one already Recently Orkut has opened invitation-for-all service like MySpace and other social networks so anyone can register anytime without the need of any invitation.

Features Changelog and Updates During 2006-2007:

Orkut has undergone a huge remake in 2006 , here is a list of features I remember that were implemented during 2006-2007:

• Profile View Count: Yes you can now view your daily profile page views, weekly and even yearly.
• New Spam control features implemented.
• Now you can locate Orkut users and friends inside Orkut all thanx to Orkut Maps.
• Communities now have Moderators.
• Image Verification: Now there is an image verification system in case whenever you have to post a link in a scrap entry or in a post, to control link spam.
• Layout change: Now the layout is more eye catching with round cornered buttons and edges but still with the same blue sensation
• Now you can view 10/20/30 Scrap Entries per page of your scrapbook.
• Java Scrap Reply: Now you can reply to a scrap without leaving your scrapbook.
• A lot of orkut applications were developed during the period 2006-2007.
• A wishlist field to profile was added
• Mutual Friend Feature: See the friends you have common.
• Now you can see the communities you own and pending communities.
• Enhanced Search: Search for Users/Communities using a similar keyword.
• Find People of your interest by using the new keyword matching search technology implemented in Orkut.
• A whole new remake of My Friends Page, giving the users more vast options to send invitations, approve/deny friend requests and manage their friends.
• A little tweak to community topics so the thing is you can now only delete your old posts and cannot edit them.
